New York Bridal Fashion Week

We’re still marveling over all of the gorgeous gowns we saw on the runway at the New York Bridal Fashion Week a few weeks ago. The 2016 bridal trends are fabulous and we are so excited to see what which trends our ‘Uncommon’ Brides have chosen.

We saw a lot of princess worthy ball gowns, layers of dreamy tulle, intricate details, plunging necklines and bold silhouettes. Take a peek at some of our favorite looks from the runway.

The sun may not have been shining on Jess & Jake’s wedding day but we had the Fairmount Park Horticulture Center lit up! With a hurricane forecasted for the weekend, our event planning and design team turned plan A into plan B and it was fabulous. Photographer Mark Tassoni gave us a sneak peek into the wedding album and we couldn’t wait to share with you!

Starr Events Catering group prepared the menu and cocktails for the evening. Their service and presentation is hard to beat, especially in the Philadelphia area and we absolutely love working with them!

Maggpie Vintage Rentals supplied us with some incredible accent furniture. The head tables were exposed farmhouse tables that we layered with delicate sequined linen – perfect combination of rustic and elegant.

After a momentous few weeks for the Uncommon Events’ team, I am packing my bags and trading in crisp air and pumpkin spice for white sand and sun. I’m super excited to venture across the border to coordinate and design an epic destination wedding celebration in Riviera Maya, Mexico.

The best part about planning a wedding in Mexico is that we get to start with a slate of clear blue skies, crystal clear water and clean white sand! Our wedding guests will be staying and celebrating in the all inclusive and beautiful Belmond Maroma Resort & Spa. The 60 person wedding ceremony and reception will take place along Maroma Beach, which is directly on site and it is gorgeous. Design elements for the ceremony will include market lighting, tropical flowers and colors, and fire dancers!

I can’t wait to share the images with you. In the meantime, check out some of our favorite images from our most recent beachside event!

Uncommon Events October Happenings

The Fall season came in strong this year for our event planning and design team and as October lifts off we see no signs of slowing down! This past week was all over the map for us (literally) and was full of fun collaboration with some of our favorites in the biz.

Our weekend of events began on Thursday with a Democratic luncheon at The Fridge in Washington, DC. Our event planning and design team spent the morning turning the small art gallery into a perfect setting for cocktails and conversation. The fabulous Starr Events catered the afternoon luncheon – beautiful and delicious! The chic setting would not have been possible without rentals from Cort Event Furnishings.

This is an entirely improper way to express my appreciation (more appropriate way to follow), but I do it nonetheless. I have heard nothing but Wow’s and Amazing’s and expressions of a similar nature since Saturday evening. Anna was so unbelievably happy the entire night, and came back down to earth yesterday only because her mother made her do her homework. It was truly spectacular, from start to finish. Thank you for everything!!

My very best regards,

Jami—Mother

We are thrilled to be a part of the The Philadelphia Gay Men’s Chorus’ Fourth Annual Fall Ball Masquerade on Saturday, October 17th 2015! The Philadelphia Loews Hotel will be home to this year’s Carnaval themed masquerade and we can’t wait to see it all come together.

This PGMC event is black-tie optional and is set to include so many exciting elements and festivities. What to expect? Live performances by Minas, Casa Brazilia, and Brotherly Love (PGMC’s ensemble), an open bar, dancing, “Sexy Ball Boys” and live and silent auctions.

This year our creative design and event planning team has donated a “Designer for the Day” gift to be auctioned off during the silent auction. One lucky attendee will have the chance to bid for the prize to become an “Uncommon Designer for the Day”! The Uncommon Designer winner will have the opportunity to spend a day with five of their favorite people and our Creative Director, Jessica Mader, at our Design Studio. These special six will get a tour of our facilities, props, and will receive hands on experience on how to create an amazing floral centerpiece. Our special guests will even get to take their handmade creations home! We will finish the day with a group lunch that includes our event planning and design team. Here our guests will have the chance to pick our brains about the industry and the special events that we create.

We are proud supporters of the Philadelphia Gay Men’s Chorus and hope you will join us on Saturday, October 17th! For more information or to Buy Tickets click here!
