Over the years, our event planning and design team has had the pleasure of working alongside incredible event industry professionals. Rather than hosting a wedding “expo” we decided it was time to give our clients something different. Love is in the Air was born from a collaboration with STARR Events. It is an evening of wedding luxury that envelopes design, exclusive catering and a couture fashion show.

We are super excited for our 5th year of Love is in the Air 2016 (#LIITA2016) and again we have teamed up with Philadelphia Wedding Magazine and over 30 local wedding and event industry vendors. The evening will include a couture fashion show curated by Lovely Bride that showcases their trendiest fashions styles with suits by Henry A Davidsen. Starr Events will host a cocktail reception featuring an innovative cuisine and guests will have the chance to sample sweet treats by Sweet T’s Bakeshop, Velvet Sky Bakery & Café, Whipped Bakeshop, and Little Baby’s Ice Cream. Among the lengthy list of entertainment is 2Life Talent, Philadelphia String Quartet, Dori Spector Fine Artist, and Denise Fike.

Brushing Bride Philadelphia

The Philadelphia Wedding Industry never ceases to amaze us with the talent that comes out of it! We recently had the chance to chat with artist and owner, Krystina from Brushing Bride.

Q: How did Brushing Bride begin?

A: My best friend was getting married, and as her Maid of Honor I wanted to do something special besides throw a killer bachelorette party. When we were younger I would draw pictures and gift them to her on special occasions. I thought it would be a cute idea to draw something for her wedding, and her gown seemed like the perfect subject. It was extremely unique, and, like most brides, she was in love with it. I joked with her about the money she was spending on a dress she would only wear once then put away in her closet. I framed the illustration and gave it to her on her wedding day. Afterwards, her twelve bridesmaids asked to place a custom order and, thus, Brushing Bride was born!

Q: What was the driving force behind it?

A: This may sounds cliche…but love. I honestly LOVE what I do. To be able to create a business based on your passion is the dream, isn’t it? I am truly excited to get up and work each day. Each day brings new challenges and limitations are whatever you make them.

Q: What did you do before you opened Brushing Bride?

A: I spent about a year working in the mortgage industry as a business systems analyst and then spent the last six years working in the healthcare industry mostly working on defining new and evaluating existing consumer capabilities needed to support the company’s strategic vision. During this time I also went back to school to pursue my MBA. I was really fortunate as I was able to take so much from what I learned in those roles and apply it to my business.

Q: Where are you located?

A: Brushing Bride is an online business run out of Philadelphia. I grew up in Philadelphia, and I am in love with everything about this city! There is a diverse urban fabric represented in the culture, the neighborhoods and the food! It has character, and I don’t think we are trying to be anyone, but ourselves.

Q: Any special/unique experiences you’ve had up until this point?

A: My favorite part of running Brushing Bride is hearing my customer’s stories. I have had several unique and special requests: three generations of dresses all drawn with the same veil; a wedding gown for a girl whose dress was lost in a fire; several 30th and 40th wedding anniversaries where I depict both the groom and bride in some dapper, retro wedding gear; and memorial drawings where someone has lost a mother/father or husband/wife. I am humbled to be asked to recreate one of the most significant days of people’s lives and beyond grateful to those who share their story with me.

The Logan Hotel Philadelphia

It seems like every corner we turn in Philadelphia, new businesses or venues are popping up and we couldn’t be more excited to see our city blossoming. We’re especially excited to see old things made new again! We recently had the chance to tour The Logan Hotel, a chic hotel located in downtown Philadelphia. Let’s shine a light on the already shining Logan Hotel.

Formerly, The Four Seasons Hotel, The Logan is an ode to its history and the city’s history. Decorated in local art, the lobby and guest rooms are decked out in rich blues and grays and accented in dark wood. The décor is a perfect blend of classic luxury and modern elegance.

The hotel is home to multiple event spaces to accommodate corporate meetings (think Philadelphia DNC) and Philadelphia weddings of any size. Among their spaces are two ballrooms, an outdoor courtyard and terrace, and a rooftop! Let’s not ignore their food and spirits. The Logan is home to The Commons and Library, The Courtyard, and Urban Farmer Restaurant, three separate spaces to experience unique food and drink menus.

Our planning and design team can’t wait to host our first wedding or corporate event at The Logan. Take a look at some of our favorite photos of their spaces!

Sunny and warm November days can be few and far between for us in the North East, but lucky for our event planning and design team, Shradda and Peter’s Wedding day was all of this and more! Clark + Walker Studio used the amazing weather and lighting to their full advantage and we couldn’t be happier with the album of images.

The wedding weekend began with a Friday night rehearsal dinner at the Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts (PAFA). STARR Events catered the evening that was set among an exhibit of sculptured statues.

The bridal party kicked off wedding day with breakfast at Le Meridien, a gorgeous hotel located a block away from PAFA. After a morning of hair and makeup with all of her special ladies, Shradda met Peter for their first look.

We loved Shradda and Peter’s approach to their wedding day and their intention to keep the day personal. Before the ceremony began, our bride and groom took to the streets for a photo shoot in the Fairmount neighborhood of Philadelphia. Their images were amazing and set in the neighborhood where they live and spend their lives together.

After photos, the Indian Wedding Ceremony started with a barat that was led by two drummers from Le Meridien to PAFA. June, a gorgeous white horse was dressed to the nines and carried our groom up Broad Street to the outdoor ceremony. Our creative director, Jessica Mader, used deep emerald fabric for draping, hanging crystals, and deep hues of orange and red roses to decorate the amazing Mandap.

STARR events catered the cocktail hour and reception that took place in several art galleries inside PAFA. The centerpieces were a mix a short and tall floral arrangements that were accented by rose gold. Our design team used a mix of linens and chargers that complimented the space beautifully. We couldn’t be happier with the venue and all our vendors that made the day so special. Take a look at some of our favorites images!

Melissa, Amanda and Jess –

I can’t even put into words how spectacular yesterday was, it was the greatest night of our lives!!!

So many people came up to me to say it was the best wedding they’ve ever been to, that everything was flawless and that it was so “us”. Thank you so much for all of your hard work this past year, we are on such a blissful high!

More to come, currently in heavy recuperating mode but we are so grateful for everything. Happy New Year and get some rest!

Niffy and Joel (The Couple)

As you know, I’ve already recommended UE to several people, not only for weddings but for special events. Every step of the way, Melissa and Amanda (& Jess behind the scenes) were the wind beneath our collective wings. Thank YOU, Thank YOU, Thank YOU All….

Ann & Larry (The Parents)

We finished an incredible year of firsts with some of the most amazing weddings. Matt and Ann’s destination wedding in Riviera Maya was our event planning and design team’s first ever-Mexican wedding and it exceeded our wildest expectations!

One of the best aspects of planning and designing in Mexico is the back drop of clear blue skies, crystal blue water and clean white sand. The Belmond Maroma Resort & Spa was home to our 60 wedding guests and was an amazing venue for this special Tuesday evening wedding!

We used bright tropical flowers and bright linens in our wedding day design elements to accentuate the natural beauty of Maroma Beach and the wedding venue. The epic weekend of celebrations kicked off with a gorgeous rehearsal and rehearsal dinner. The wedding day celebrations began with an open-air wedding ceremony in a beautiful chapel and were followed by dinner, dancing, fire dancers, sea turtles and a dip in the ocean with the B & G. Alison Conklin Photography captured every aspect perfectly. Enjoy!
