Starr Events Catering group prepared the menu and cocktails for the evening. Their service and presentation is hard to beat, especially in the Philadelphia area and we absolutely love working with them!
Maggpie Vintage Rentals supplied us with some incredible accent furniture. The head tables were exposed farmhouse tables that we layered with delicate sequined linen – perfect combination of rustic and elegant.
The Fall season came in strong this year for our event planning and design team and as October lifts off we see no signs of slowing down! This past week was all over the map for us (literally) and was full of fun collaboration with some of our favorites in the biz.
Our weekend of events began on Thursday with a Democratic luncheon at The Fridge in Washington, DC. Our event planning and design team spent the morning turning the small art gallery into a perfect setting for cocktails and conversation. The fabulous Starr Events catered the afternoon luncheon – beautiful and delicious! The chic setting would not have been possible without rentals from Cort Event Furnishings.
We are getting so excited for all things fall especially as we prepare to open the ticket sales on October 15th for Love Is In The Air 2016 at the Fairmount Park Horticulture Center. Once again we are teaming up with the incredible catering and event company, Stephen Starr Events to host an evening of bridal fashions, couture catering, and wedding designs on Thursday, February 25th. Take a look back with us at some of the highlight of the past few years.
We love looking back at some of our favorite Philadelphia weddings and events. Today we look back at the whimsical and fabulous wedding of Liz and Andrew at The Merion Cricket Club.
Liz and Andrew are one of our favorite couples and the reason behind my nickname, “Fairy Godmother Badass”. The Merion Cricket Club’s style and design was the perfect setting for an elegant yet whimsical reception. The venue’s grounds and the ballroom were perfect for our creative event design team’s vision.
The Papery created the invitation suite, which was stunning and the perfect glimpse into the celebrations style and design. We carried the tree theme from the save the date to the escort cards and even design elements throughout the reception.
The Fairmount Park Horticulture Center is one of our favorite Philadelphia wedding venues and was the perfect setting for Alison and Eric’s May wedding. The natural spring flora combined with the Fairmount park landscape and Alison’s style combined beautifully for this simple and elegant wedding!
Alison and Eric’s wedding ceremony took place outdoors on the grounds of the Horticulture center. The ceremony design was simple, as we played up the natural elements of the landscape. French tulips set in tall wooden pedestals greeted guests as they arrived to take their seats. The bridesmaids walked down the aisle and added the perfect pop of color as they held bright yellow sunflower bouquets (the bride’s favorite flower)! The traditional wedding ceremony was followed by a Chinese Tea Ceremony where the bride and groom served tea to show respect and honor to their parents. So cool!
The reception was simple and elegant with beautiful pops of bold color! We used a mixed of round tables and farmhouse tables to create a rustic feel. The floral centerpieces were each unique and held a variety of floral choices and colors. Gray linens and seat cushions allowed the arrangements to really pop! The entire evening was dreamy as we used a lot of candle light and draped exposed edison bulbs. The head table was set in front of a backdrop of mismatching mirrors that reflected light throughout the entire room.
We have been bursting with excitement over the last couple of weeks as photographs have been flying in from our most recent Philadelphia weddings. We are even more excited to share Katherine and Jesse’s May wedding. It was the perfect mix of romantic and classic.
Katherine and Jesse’s big day began with their first look and photographs in and around the Merion area of Pennsylvania. The stunning couple said their ‘I’ Dos’ at the Church of the Holy Redeemer before heading to their reception at the Overbrook Country Club.
Overbrook Country Club is a privately held golf club located on 128 acres of rolling hills in Bryn Mawr, PA. Its traditional but unique look was the perfect setting for Katherine and Jesse’s reception.
The entire day was so beautiful, simple and charming from start to finish. Our creative event and wedding design team used shades of pink, ivory, champagne and gold as the main colors throughout the day. Soft shades of pink and ivory florals created a soft and feminine feel. We used a mix of high and low vases that were both clear and gold. The escort table arrangement was stunning in a gold chalice vase brimming with gorgeous flowers.
The tables were dressed in champagne silk and topped with an ornate hand embroidered linen. Cocktail napkins and bar signage were customized and added a unique twist to the reception. For chairs, we used a mix of the country club’s chairs and added chivaris with blush seat cushions. For the outdoor cocktail reception we used mainly white florals in gold and blush vases. Pops of gold throughout the evening added the perfect amount of elegance!
The photographers, Paper Antler, are a husband and wife team hailing from Minneapolis, MN.They captured the day better than we could have ever imagined. I can’t wait to work with them again!
Gone are the days where grooms sit back and watch as their brides run wild with wedding plans. We are seeing and working with many grooms that are taking on major wedding day responsibility. ACE Conference Center recently published a killer article with plenty of incredible advice for all of the curious grooms out there. We had the pleasure of supplying a little bit of our advice for the feature.
Bedford is steeped in American history and is the perfect backdrop for a 4th of July wedding! The ceremony and reception venue, Omni Bedford Springs, has been an ongoing inn since 1806 and is a beautiful resort.
The wedding festivities will begin on Friday night with a rehearsal dinner on the outdoor veranda followed by a relaxing evening by the glorious fire pits. On Saturday (the BIG day), this sweet couple will become husband and wife with a catholic mass inside of the inn, followed by a beautiful reception in the Colonnade Building.
Our bride has great taste and it has been a true pleasure working with her on her vision. A sneak peek into the reception—we will be using a mix of farmhouse tables and rounds, creating a rustic but glamorous feel. The whole weekend will be a perfect mix of new and old!
It has been an absolute pleasure working with this venue and especially their Director of Catering, Brian Stiffler. We are so thrilled to make this special bride’s dreams come true and we are looking forward to sharing all of the images with you.
Jenna and TJ came to us to assist in the planning and design of their wedding more than a year in advance. Jenna travels heavily for her company and wanted a team on the ground in Philadelphia to create her vision and manage all the details. She chose stunning colors of coral and charcoal gray accented by gold. The venue, Vie, is already decorated on its own but we added to the beauty of the venue with more chandeliers, glitz and glam. The mirrored head table had 12 dimmable chandeliers above at varying heights. The seating was mostly at square tables; white leather and those clothed in gold. We had 10 tables that seated 6 guests each, quite a nice difference from the “common” seating. The floral centerpieces ranged from our stunning 5’ tall round floral spheres (Jessica, our Creative Director, made the floral spheres so beautiful that most of the guests asked if the flowers were real!), and crystal candelabras to lower elements placed in mercury glass and adorned with glowy candlelight.
The paper pieces for the wedding were gorgeous. The wedding invitation was delivered in a hand calligraphed box. The guests knew that it was going to be a special evening upon its’ arrival. The menu, die cut to fit within the charger plate, was one of my favorite pieces. (So much so, I am using the same style for my event in London this August!). The print theme was carried though out every paper element.
On the patio we added some fringe elements and furniture as well as a cigar rolling station for later in the evening. The guests LOVED that space.
Jackie Bayne, from Love Shack Photography, did an amazing job capturing all the details of the day. There were so many!
Words cannot express our gratitude towards everything you did to turn our dream wedding vision into a reality. As you know, we started our wedding planning journey without your guidance or assistance. Without your help, we know the final design would have paled in comparison to the wedding you helped us achieve.
Your attention to detail and tireless effort gave us the wedding of our dreams. The compliments continue and the memories grow as we reflect on the wonderful evening we shared with all of our friends and loved ones.
We will always remember you fondly for our amazing wedding and recommend you to any couples that want their wedding experience to exceed their expectations.
